4 tablespoons (½ stick) unsalted butter,
at room temperature
½ cup superf ne sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 ounces dark chocolate, melted (½ cup)
¼ cup milk
½ cup all-purpose fl our
¼ cup unsweetened natural cocoa powder
Pinch of salt


1. In a medium bowl, beat the butter and sugar for 3 minutes, or until well
creamed. Stir in the vanilla and melted chocolate. Slowly stream in the milk. 

2. Add the flour, cocoa powder, and salt and mix, by hand or on low speed with an electric
mixer, until well blended.
